About Drew Kuhn

USING TECHNOLOGY TO DO MY BEST

My goal is to raise clean, wholesome pork and grains that will help feed people all over the world. In order to achieve that goal, it is important for me to keep learning about new technologies and how I can use them to make our farm better than it was the day before. That means part of my job is to go to meetings and conferences to learn from other farmers already using the technology.

FINDING MY PLACE ON THE FARM

My dream has always been to work with my family on the farm and continue the tradition that generations before me have carried out. In order to fulfill that dream, I spent some time managing another family farm (Sturtevant Hog Farm) until the opportunity arose in November 2019 to raise pigs closer to home alongside my brother and wife. Together we raise pigs from the time they’re weaned – about 3 weeks of age – to when they’ll go to market.

THE BEST PART ABOUT MY JOB

No two days are the same for me. There is always something different that has to be accomplished depending on the day or season. You might think that would make it hard to master any one skill, but working alongside older generations gives you the advantage of decades of experience and knowledge to learn from.
